Postcard from Norway

There are currently 195 Countries recognised by the United Nations, and I hope to collect a postcard from each and every one of them. Getting a postcard from certain countries will be difficult I am sure, but I do like a challenge. I am doing this using my Interpals Profile and the Postcrossing website. I hope to have exchanges with lots of people and gain some insight into different cultures and backgrounds.

Thank you so much Joanne for this lovely postcard from Norway, I’ve been waiting a long time for this one! I really hope to be able to see those Northern Lights one day. Postcard #19.

Thank you Wilfa for this lovely postcard all the way from Indonesia, this definitely takes the record for longest distance travelled, having flown 7383 miles! The flower shown on the postcard is called the West Sumatra, the worlds largest flower, and apparently its really smelly! The previous record holder was Taiwan at 6037 miles. Postcard #17.

My family were in the Greek city of Tolo recently, enjoying the sunshine and drinking ice cool beers by the sea! Lucky them! Since I already have postcards from Italy, this one is not included in my overall count to 195 cards.

I love turtles so I was happy to get this postcard all the way from Greece. It reminds me of my own travels to Crete. Not that long ago I was sitting around the lake in Agios Nikolaos sipping on a beer and playing backgammon with my brother, when a sea turtle swam into the lake, showing off its fantastic swimming skills to everybody who watched! Postcard #16.

This lovely card from Eleonora in Bologna, Italy, shows the imposing Towers of Bologna. This lead me to reading about these towers on Wikipedia. In the 12th and 13th centuries there was an estimated 180 of these towers in the city of Bologna, it must have been something of a medieval sky scraper city! Since I already have postcards from Italy, this one is not included in my overall count to 195 cards.
