Another Postcard from Russia

There are currently 195 Countries recognised by the United Nations, and I hope to collect a postcard from each and every one of them. Getting a postcard from certain countries will be difficult I am sure, but I do like a challenge. I am doing this using my Interpals Profile and the Postcrossing website. I hope to have exchanges with lots of people and gain some insight into different cultures and backgrounds.

Russia continues to be the leading provider of my postcard collection, however with postcards as beautiful as this I am certainly not complaining! What stands out most to me on this card is not the front, as nice as that is, but the stamps on the back. This postcard has inspired me to write a blog post all about the various stamps that I have received since starting this hobby, so look out for that! Thank you Olga for the card and the ideas! Since I already have postcards from Russia, this one is not included in my overall count to 195 cards.

Thank you Nina for this lovely postcard, the flowers are called Hepatica and apparently are the first flowers to bloom in Finland. They are pretty but I can’t help but be reminded that I will soon be at the mercy of the pollen and hayfever season! Since I already have a postcard from Finland, this one is not included in my overall count to 195 cards.

I was thinking that there must be an interesting visual way of showing my progress, so I found a website called Map Chart. It is an amazing website that lets users generate all sorts of maps for educational and learning purposes.

The red sections in the map above show where I have recieved a postcard from. I am quite pleased with my progress however there is clearly a long way to go to 195 countries. I currently have 29 countries marked, very few from Africa or South America. I hope to change this soon!

This postcard is something of an oddity. It is a postcard depicting Berlin, written by someone from Portugal, who is currently living in Switzerland! Thank you Patricia! Since I already have a postcard from Switzerland, this one is not included in my overall count to 195 cards.

Another country to cross off my list! This postcard is from Debrecen in Hungary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. According to the sender it is also a fantastic place to look at birds! The sender is also a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer so they are already awesome in my book! Thank you Brigi! Postcard #29.

When using Postcrossing there can be a lot of duplication, when I got this card from Poland I had to double check that I haven’t had one before. It is always so nice to be able to tick off another country on my quest! Thank you Halsza! Postcard #28.
