Another Postcard from Italy

There are currently 195 Countries recognised by the United Nations, and I hope to collect a postcard from each and every one of them. Getting a postcard from certain countries will be difficult I am sure, but I do like a challenge. I am doing this using my Interpals Profile and the Postcrossing website. I hope to have exchanges with lots of people and gain some insight into different cultures and backgrounds.

Thank you to Mamma Mo for this lovely postcard depicting the beautiful region of Tuscany in Italy. I am particularly envious that it already seems to be Spring for you, while here in Scotland it is still cold, wet and grey! Since I already have postcards from Italy, this one is not included in my overall count to 195 cards.

This lovely card from Eleonora in Bologna, Italy, shows the imposing Towers of Bologna. This lead me to reading about these towers on Wikipedia. In the 12th and 13th centuries there was an estimated 180 of these towers in the city of Bologna, it must have been something of a medieval sky scraper city! Since I already have postcards from Italy, this one is not included in my overall count to 195 cards.

Thank you Eleonora for this interesting looking postcard! It shows war gardens in Rome with the Altare della Patria in the background. After a quick Google search I learned that the Altare della Patria was built in honour of Victor Emmanuel, the first king of a unified Italy. Since I already have a postcard from Italy, this one is not included in my overall count to 195 cards.

My postcard collection begins, thanks Eleanora! It is a lovely postcard and the town of Urbino looks absolutely beautiful, makes me wish I was there! Postcard #1.
